Sri Lanka has more to offer than just stunning beaches. Explore the village and countryside around Villa Margareta for a few hours. Or take a longer trip to tea plantations and thousand-year-old villages up in the mountains.

ABOUT TWO HOURS
Experience the wetlands a bit up from the coast with its teeming wildlife. In the morning, the surface of the water is covered with lotus flowers which during the day are picked by the locals to decorate the temples located nearby. There are also lots of beautiful birds to admire here, as well as some water buffalo.
During this excursion you will also see coconut, tea, cinnamon and rubber plantations. Depending on the season and availability, Rex can arrange for you to visit one or more of them. You also get the opportunity to visit a Buddhist temple.
HALF DAY
During a half-day excursion, you can visit a nursery for sea turtles near Bentota. It is part of a rescue project for this endangered species.
We can also recommend a trip in one of the riverboats next to Bentota, where you will, among other things, experience the wildlife in the Mangrove Swamp.
A gem that you should not miss is architect Geoffrey Bawa's tropical garden in Aluthgama.
ALL DAY
During a full day excursion you have the opportunity to visit either Colombo, Galle or Kandy with the orphanage for elephants in Pinnewalla.
Colombo offers exuberant life and a musty mix of colonial and modern architecture. There are many fine restaurants to choose from here.
In Galle, you can feel the beat of history when you walk between the old houses in colonial style.
Kandy is spiced up by many beautiful temples and lush greenery as it lies a bit inland.
SEVERAL DAYS
If you would like to go on an excursion with an overnight stay, you can, among other things, visit the Culture Triangle, Yala Wildlife Park or go on a whale safari in Mirissa. Talk to Rex, as he has years of experience and can suggest the best setup for you.
